A low-budget cosplay site for Nordic and Baltic regions.

The project, starting as a personal portfolio learning web-development, is made by Michiko, the cosplayer and developer. The goal is to help cosplayers and pop culture lovers to find events and friendly spots, and to help event organizers reach the community and guests.

The story of CosOverHere

When I first moved to Europe, I didn't know anyone who is interested in cosplay or Japanese cultures inside my work or study circles. I didn't know where to look for cosplay events, and when I did find one, I got losted and didn't know where to start.

I have been cosplaying for many years. Back in my home country, we used Props&Ops to follow cosplay events and plan our day around them. Here, as far as I could see, nothing like it existed yet. The event lists I did find either covered one country or generalized all events around the world using APIs without getting to know anyone from the site.

Over the years, I found a group of local friends and learned a lot from them. Together we have been to events around the Nordic and Baltic countries, and I would like a website to show all of them, so my friends and I could plan where to go next.

That is how CosOverHere started: one map and calendar for cosplay events, cosplay-friendly spots and practice places across the Nordic and Baltic region. I hope it helps other cosplayers too, especially those who are new here and still looking for their people.

  • PastA newbie in Europe, was busy with work and study, and no idea where the cosplay events were.
  • PresentI made a cosplay website, showing events, spots and practice places across the Nordic and Baltic countries using GIS map.
  • FutureDeeper insights into each cosplay community, more events and spots, and a better experience for Baltic and Nordic cosplayers.

What the name CosOverHere means

I wanted the name to mix cosplay and map. The Nordic and Baltic countries have the aurora, so cosplay + aurora became Cosora, and map became Atlas. CosoraAtlas was the first name, but it was long and hard to remember. So I made it shorter: cosplay + cover became CosOver, and adding Here gave us CosOverHere.

Terms

  1. Images, information, articles and other content on CosOverHere may not be used to pass them off as your own, for commercial purposes, or in any way that causes harm. You may use them if you ask for permission first, or if you credit CosOverHere as the source.
  2. Event information on CosOverHere comes from two kinds of sources. Some events are imported automatically from public open data shared by cities, countries and other websites. Others are added by the CosOverHere team or submitted by visitors. We check listings before they go live, but dates, prices and other details can change or contain mistakes. Always confirm with the official organizer before you go. Each event's data and images belong to their original source, and listings from open data follow that source's license (see Credits below).
  3. CosOverHere encourages people to proceed with cosplay and art. One may fully edit or use extra tools to help your work more stand out, but not with AI at the start. We do not accept or feature cosplay photos or artwork that are fully generated by AI, and we remove such submissions. Behind the scenes, we use AI tools only for technical work, such as cybersecurity, automation and collecting and organizing event data, so we can keep the site free and up to date. Every costume, prop, photo and artwork shown here belongs to the person who made it.
